Is It Sunny Where You Are Too?

Happy Mother's Day!

This is what I had on my bedside table this morning. There were flowers, and breakfast in bed and these sweet Cath Kidson bowls.

On another note, here's a peep at some things-for-now-you-are-two little-boy.

His own bed.

It's tucked into a corner of our bedroom for now, though plans are afoot to create more space in our little house, so sometime in the summer he'll get to move in with his big brother. Oh what fun!

And I thought I'd show you this sweet Horsey. I got him at the school Christmas Fair for €5! and decided to keep him for The Smallest's Birthday. I haven't decided if he needs a make-over yet. We'll see.

The sun is shining here. Really shining! And it's warm!

I hope it is for you too!

Something Lovely.

This arrived in the post yesterday. Yes. Another notebook. But I just can't resist! This is particularly special though. I got it from Pedlars, one of my favourite online shops. It said: "Hand printed by Kim Jenkins on her small hot foil press in London. No two books are the same". Unfortunately, there's very little info on Kim to be found other than her email.

I just love this. Those little sailors are the sweetest. And it's just in time for a whole series of work that is falling out of my head at the moment, which looks possibly like part of a group show with some old friends, later in the year. I'll let you know as that progresses. And as the work materialises I'll give you some sneaky peeks.

And the best thing about this? At 9BP was reduced to half price...(Why tho? Why?)

You know me well.

I Like.

This sweet blanket was just 7 euro. Handmade, brand new, lovely and soft. Yes I could have made it myself. Tho I don't think I would ever have chosen black and white, but I really like it.

And 7 euro! How could I not?

Walking back to the car with a little tiger: engrossed in worms in the puddles.

A Home.

The annual summer fete was on down the road from my parents today. We just had to make a stop of course. We got there kind of late but still manage to pick up a couple of nice things. My Dad found this beautiful book which he generously gave to me. The illustrations are by Carl Larsson. Aren't they just gorgeous?

You know by now we love books.

What I Found Today.

Just look what I got for 6 euro today. In Heatons of all places.

There I was killing time in Wicklow while The Little One was bowling at a birthday party. (Apparently he has a significant talent for bowling. He didn't miss once, I was told. Yes I am proud!) What is there to do in Wicklow town? Not much. It makes me feel spoiled to have Greystones on my doorstep. But I wandered into Heatons and couldn't believe my luck when I spotted this lamp.

Ah, yes. The thrill of finding a bargain. Especially when it's something you need.

A Pretty Thing.

My latest find in Avoca's bargain basket. A Rice handkerchief. I'm thinking a new cushion cover would be cute.

Or a centre piece for a little quilt maybe?

Hmmm...

Bargain Bin Finds.

I have to say I rarely buy much in Avoca, apart from maybe kitchen stuff. Yes they are overpriced, which is why getting a bargain there is so satisfying. Myself and Lisa spend all our time going on about how we could make everything and why would you spend so much on something when you could throw it together no problem. Ha! How often do we actually make anything?
Anyway, I love their bargain baskets, and nearly always find something, like these. So these are my latest finds.

I'd been looking at this bunting for a while, but really, how long would it take me to make it? So when I found half of one in the basket for 1 euro how could I pass it by!

Again, I'd been admiring these cute cushion covers from Rice but 30 quid seemed excessive. But 12 euro? Not bad. And perfect for Finn's room.

Sweet Things.

These little aprons were spotted while myself and Lisa were rummaging through the bargain baskets in Avoca. It was the Holly Hobbie that stole my heart. I have fond memories of having a miniature one when I was young, and wishing so hard for a big one like my friend Grainne had. I never got one. Someday I'll track one down somewhere. An original 70's one though, as they have updated her and while a sweet doll, she is just nowhere near as endearing as the old rag doll she was.
