We had a lovely weekend. We had some old friends visit us, which is always good. They are the kind of friends who inspire me and leave me feeling encouraged.
I did get a lie-in this morning, but otherwise it was go go go, with six children to feed and referee! So much so I hardly took any pictures!
~But then this morning...
The first morning it's mild enough to open the windows as I rise.
Listen! The songbirds are returning.
Echoing in the damp garden, with the quiet surf whispering in the background,
soothing them, inviting them to stay awhile.
And as the sun creeps higher over the sea, the distant hills part their misty curtains and we all look around us, nodding Hello! Hello! little birds, so glad you could come!

There is just something about spending time with old friends. Good for the soul. I posted about that today as well. :) I enjoyed your pictures.
Oh Ciara, your post today is so refreshing. Thoughts of spring.... I love the phot of the bucket of stones, and the one looking down on Ed doing his work!
Would love to catch up this week.

When I am working in the garden, I still sit on my knees like your little one in the second photo! I probably need to stop that.
Lovely photos, and you're right...Spring is on its way, slowly but surely. There was an odd flock of grey and yellow birds that converged on our birdbath this week. Just for an hour or so, then they were off again.
Ciara, I should like to pitch a tent in your garden, where all lovely things dwell or eventually visit...
(You're included,btw! In all lovely things! ;) )

Lucky you to have mild mornings. It's freezing cold down here, but sunny at last. As usual, I'm jealous of all those beautiful beach stones you have picked. I wish you could sen some my way, ha, ha...
Gorgeous!
I'm delighted to report the presence of Blue Tits ( blue with yellow bellies?) in my garden this year, and of course my lovely robin!
Oh what a lovely post. Gorgeous pics and colours, full of warmth and happiness...what a delight!

What a lovely weekend - it makes me long for spring.
Is there anything nicer than the return of the songbirds? The reminder that spring will come before long. The fresh air when you can open your windows, even for a short while...
