Something Lovely.

When we went to London-town recently, one little treasure we found was Benjamin Pollock's Toyshop in Covent Garden. Oh my! It was a wonderful treasure trove of magic, which specialises in toy theatres and toys of another era. I was in heaven. I picked up a few retro postcards and little paper cut-outs and then I spied a little wonder that made me quiver with joy!

And it was out of stock...

I came home and couldn't stop thinking about it. So I googled it, as one does these days, and to my delight I found myself in a very familiar Etsy shop. Little Robot is a wonderland of 'Paper, Pictures, Automata & Other Fanciful Things'. I have been an occasional visitor to Lindsey's fascinating Little Robot Blog, and I am so thrilled to see she has some in her shop.

This is a printed art doll which you can cut out and assemble yourself! She also has her own spooky forest background image for framing her against.

I have to say it floated off the wall at me which is why I spotted it in the first place. With these pictures it's hard to get across the 3-D effect she has.
It really is a captivating piece.

So guess what is top of my things I need list?

I thought that shop had closed. I am sure it used to be near Goodge Street once over? I bought a very old wooden doll with a painted head, years ago from a shop with the same name. They also sold toy theaters and I think they had a museum.

The doll you feature is enchanting, I love the Etsy shop also, so many amazing things.

It is charming. What's her story I wonder?

I think she is very cool...! She looks as though she would be very happy on date with StrewwelPeter (Shockheaded Peter) or another dark fairytale escort... Edward Scissorhands? (Although if anyone "flat of affect" can call dibs on Johnny Depp, today I think it should be me...) I think she is actually more poised than either of them. I can see the three dimensional quality quite well! Thank you for sharing her!

I really love her! She is so mysterious and beautiful. Reminds me a bit of the Tim Burton children's book I bought for the girls.

Pollocks is one of my favourite places... there's an untrue rumour abounding that it had shut down but it's very good that it hasn't!
Isn't Lindsey great.. proud to say I've met her in person! :)
