Anyway, as the evenings draw in, from next week I'll be gathering together again with a bunch of friends for an evening of stitchery around the fire. It's always fun to see what projects people are planning.
So with that in mind I thought I'd share this wonderful idea I found months back, though how I found it I can't remember.
It's a French site called Golden Hook that offers a service for people who wish they could knit but know they never will. You go onto their site, choose a hat design you like, choose the yarn you like, and then you choose the Grandma you'd like to knit it!
How brilliant is that!

I had an extra spring in my step today, all because of the wonder of human loveliness.
If you want to know why, take a peek at the footnote on my most recent post over on ~Carnival~!

Oh I love that knitting idea. I had so much fun wandering around that site! Thanks!
And congratulations on your letter!!
What a neat idea! Thank you for sharing the knitting link. :)
I am trying to imagine your beautiful irish autumn. How gorgeous.
Lovely to hear your spring in step happiness..I will be seeking his music out...xx
happy autumn! even though we are now coming into spring and i am ever so grateful for it, my body is telling me it should be autumn. i am really craving it right now. i love that special autumnal glow when the air is cool and nippy, but the earth is still radiating summer's heat, mmmmmmm. enjoy it.
have a lovely weekend.
Looking after little ones is very tiring, I remember being exhausted most of the time. Two year olds are so sweet though, I also remember how enchanting they can be, real little people with their own ideas on life.
We are having a bit of a heat wave here, summer has not left us yet.
enjoy your stitching. How nice to get your letter too.
I LOVE this golden hook idea! Even though I knit and crochet, I'd still love to choose a grandma to knit a hat for me! When I was a girl my memere used to knit me beautiful mittens, scarves, and hats. There's nothing better than a pair of mittens someone made especially for you--it's like holding their hands in yours every time you put them on.
Lovely post. xo Gigi
hey ciara...not said hi in a while (still without laptop and other general madness!). thats hilarious about the knitting grannies, love it! stitching around the fire sounds lovely especially as i feel a bit wintery with a bad cold, snuffle. s x
Last year I thought of choosing one of those grannies to knit something for me. The idea was just too sweet, but I lost the link. Thanks for posting it!
well if you put it out there you get it back ;0)
....love that photo and the teeny patterns, clothes and pin cushion
I love the photo of the thread box and the busy little hands. And the knitting grand-maman, of course!
A cat AND two two-year olds! Yes, you need more sleep. Well done for managing to keep the blog going as well as ever.
Rentagrandma! Reminds me of the Shreddies ad Cassia loves.
