The Why Of It...

A couple of people have asked that I post the introduction that I wrote in the book. So here it is. This is why I was inspired to do this project in the first place.

***

This is the view from my back door, from my kitchen window.
The Sugarloaf.
Each day bringing another sky, another wonder to fill my heart. So many days spent here at this window, on this doorstep. In summer, a sunny corner of scented flowers, creeping green. Generous lush rushes lean and sway and whisper. In autumn late blooming roses fill the evening with perfume, which greets us like a friendly melancholy ghost, wrapping around us, seducing us, inviting us to stay awhile. In winter, a sudden gift of light to gladden your heart. A heron against a stark winter sky. And in spring the birds return. Along with the green.
And you love this place. It is filled with such ghosts and echoes of other lives. The garden breathes the faint memory of long-ago children. A lingering sensation of hidden joy.
Come follow us. Share our blessings.
One year.

Ciara Brehony,
Co. Wicklow, Ireland.

Ah, bottle it please! And I'll swig it like Dandelion Wine! Must you make it so impossibly painful for me NOT to be there...?? *BIG SIGH*

A true artist you are, too; a gift for perception, words, art, needlecraft, photography... no end.

Thank you for sharing the intro!

So is it this back door that you refer to the one you want me to use when I arrive for my visit?
Oh, what a dream of a visit that would be~

Thanks Ciara, I am now a proud owner of your book...waiting for it to reach my mailbox....

Did you self publish using blurb? How did you find it? Would love to hear more about it.

Nice one Therese!

mammydiaries, I did use blurb. If you can blog, you can blurb! It really is easy to use. I have heard some people who weren't happy with it. I think it depends on the type of images you are using. I'll be interested to see what the bigger format looks like. Check it out by either clicking the blurb badge above right and then going to their homepage, or the first Blurb link on the next post down will take you there. Or just google Blurb.com!

I must comment, too, at how lucky you are Ciara, to have BOTH parents in the blogging world (not to mention the other aspects of your magical world) with you! I could never even get my Dad to go onto the internet, for fear of identity theft! ;)

Circe, I think at last count there was six family blogs. And that's not counting in-laws, cousins etc! It's been a great way for everyone to stay in touch!

Hi Ciara, having seen your book 'in the flesh', I feel priveledged. It is wonderful. congratulations. I always feel inspired by what you manage to achieve. Having 4 kids is a challenge to being creative. I know it well....... But I guess that brings out the unique side of being a mother, and finding a way to follow our hearts and dreams.
