A Hiatus Of A Most Aggravating Kind.

For more than a week we have been cut off from the world. That most useful creature we call The Internet broke it's tether and wandered off over the mountain. All week we stood gazing at the mountains, hand shading our eyes, phone to our ear as we grew increasingly exasperated with shower of blackguards who are happy to take our money every month and then fall asleep on their watch. (Picture me standing on our rooftop, swinging my lasso, hoping I make purchase this time. Every day this week...*sigh*)
But now it has returned, though I believe it has had an unhappy time, for it is sluggish and sleepy and most infuriatingly uncooperative. Oh! how my blood has been set boiling this morning!

But moving swiftly on to more pleasant things. We had a most lovely week otherwise, and it is amazing just how much got done around the house this week! Here's some pics of what we've been up to, but first, the winner of the giveaway is Rebecca S! Rebecca, email me!

Autumn Bounty!

Little friends.
Off down the lane to the sea.

Chasing waves.

Blackberries!

Autumn is here!

The quiet reverie that a weekend morning brings.

In my kitchen.

An evening of stitches of one kind or another.

Sandymount Strand.

Evening's End.

And so, normal service has resumed. If you like, take a peek here, At My Back Door for a taste of what Autumnal splendor our view brought us this week.

Have a lovely weekend!

Isn't it infuriating that the Big companies get what they want from you ($$) when they want it but when we need them, they take their own sweet time??!! Oh well at least you have a lovely back lane full of laughter! Gorgeous clouds out your way...

I have been enjoying your beautiful pictures and happy thoughts for several months now and just thought I would say hello and thank you from my house near Washington DC.

HI Ciara, oh that must have been frustrating. I don't describe myself as an "internetty" person, but even a day without catching up on my blogger friends and email would be unthinkable, so a week must have been loonnngg.
Love the last pic here, feels as though the clouds are right on top of your head.
Don't fret about the award meme at all, just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy visiting here.
have a lovely weekend.

All great pics but I love the children going down the lane to the sea best.

Great to see you connected once more! I love the informality of your photographs, by-the-way.

Yippee! Some good news to lift me up just as I'm coming down with a cold. I had a funny tingly feeling when I left that last comment, too :)

It is ever so frustrating not being connected, isn't it. But it looks like you have had a nice week. That sky is beautiful. Lovely photos. xx

Beautiful photos! I haven't been a regular follower of your blog but I will revisit more often - I love the knitting pic - is that a group you're in? I love knitting but am on a solo run, there's a beginners' group starting up here soon but I'm past that stage! Drop by my blog sometime, always welcome.

I'm glad you're back (and I love your new photo) but it must have been nice and peaceful as well. I depend on connectivity for working, but the Internet is always pecking away at my day (my own fault) and a week without it would be ever so tranquil.

Your photos remind us of the pleasures away from the internet. And, yet, without it I wouldn't have seen those sweet children off to the beach. Nor your warm cuppa and talk with a little one. You always bring my time with my own children back. For a few minutes I'm there again...thanks, Ciara.

I too became unconnected with the world lately. My computer had a virus and was in intensive care, never fully recovering and lots of it's memory were gone forever. Some precious memories . . .

It does look like you had lots of fun and great interactive moments were shared by loved ones.

Sometimes losing contact with technology for a while can be good for the soul.

Thank you, the weekend was lovely. With cold toes for the first time, but inside they got warm again. Winter is almost here and the Sunday ends here to your beautiful pictures. What a sea, please wave from me to it next time you meet.

Good night!

Beautiful, happy pictures
The internet has its uses, but does take too much time!

Oh Ciara,
I absolutely adore your posts - they are always so simply beautiful and poignant. I've followed them for 2 or 3 years now, but never commented.
I especially love the pictures of your children as they remind me of my own when they too were tiny - all chunky knit homemade jumpers and masses of blond curly hair! Your post of your son turning 13 a good while ago reduced me to tears as it reminded me so much of how I felt when my daughter turned into a teenager too, but I couldn't find the words myself to describe how that made me feel.
Your photos of the local views, especially the skies are so beautiful - and the pictures of your children which are always so simply natural are - as Ellen in an earlier post says, 'priceless'.

I always feel so peaceful when I visit here! We spent a wondrous morning last week at a local pumpkin patch this past Friday, including a hay ride to the far patch of field where the pumpkins lie waiting for the 16 little munchkins from my grandson's preschool to claim them! :-) Don't feel alone with your finicky internet. Extremely hot days and extremely rainy/windy days here will do the same to mine, and I live in a large city! Go figure! And they say all this technology is supposed to make life simpler. Right!!!

Glad to see you back here, Ciara... and not least your dazzling photos! Happy Days :o)

Very glad you are back, and so sorry for your frustration! Was a bit worried! I'm glad it was only technical issues that prevented your posts! Love the pics, especially the berries and babies!

I love how the Little Friends all have different forms of transport in that picture. :)

It is so frustrating when the Internet doesn't do as it ought. Glad it is back for you now.

oh, to be so close to the sea! we have to drive for at least 10 minutes to get to the water... still not as bad as where i grew up, where it was more like 2-3 hours!

we went today, but i hadn't realised how cold it was, so my ears got really sore with the wind. the little one had her hood and scarf but i wasn't so smart, and we went a bit late, when the shadows were getting longer and the wind sharper. still even 15 minutes on the beach are worth it!
