What We Did On A Sunny Day.

Well, it was a long weekend here,
and the sun continued to smile upon us, so we did what we have been itching to do but couldn't over the last week.
We drove half an hour south to one of our favourite beaches, Silver Strand, just south of Wicklow town.
This is a beach from my childhood.
I know we have a beach on our doorstep, but that's where you go for stoney winter windswept walks.

This beach is where you go when you want to swim,

and catch minnows and shrimp,

and tear about in gangs, voices high-pitched and excited,

where the coldness of the water seems incidental,

because there are boats to be sailed,

and holes to be dug.

And there's more on the way, they say. I am not going to be typical Irish and say wistfully, 'Well, that's our summer over and done with'. Surely we are due a good summer after the last few wash-outs we've had!

Well, I hope the sun shone wherever you were today!

Oh, that third shot down brought me right back to childhood--a spot on the coast of Maine where we'd search for crabs and sand dollars. Wonderful photos.

Beautiful. We have to have a few more days of summer, don't we. We deserve it and I haven't been to maghermore yet this year...

we've been having sunny days here too and enjoying some beach time... and as for that Irish words... we share the same words and feeling here. I hope they're all wrong! This is not enough for me!

What a lovely beach - oh how I miss the beach - we're about as far as you can get from either coast...

Silver Strand! Brings all the memories of our days back. Those pics could be us 30 years ago.

Wow. Looks like shots from a holiday brochure. But it's not, it's Wicklow! Fond memories of Silver Strand. I love the one of them all looking at the catch. Very Johnny and Sophie at the Seaside!
