Can We Do It?

We are planning on a car-free summer. Ok maybe car-free is extreme and unrealistic, but let's just say when I put 40 euros into the car the other day and it barely went above the halfway mark, I realised it was time for a change.

The train is on our door step, the bus up the road, so time to go back to the way we used to do it when we only had two.

And suddenly we have time to hang out in the library again.

Walk around in the rain, and to see things properly once more.

For sweet baby clothes from Caramel see here and here.

Ooh, well done Ciara... I was under the impression that fuel was much cheaper over there than here... but it seems the same scenario everywhere.
We panic every time we go to the local service station, to find the diesel has gone up a few pence every time. It's £1.32 now...
In the longterm we'll be looking into veg oil conversion... tho that's gone up too!
Argg!

it is quite a bit of a life changing thing, isn´t it? I am happy for you not to spend so much time in the car, I hope it is not too hard though.. x

It's nice to vary it......at the same time knowing you have the chariot to fall back on when needed.

Good for you! Especially as you have the train, which is the most wonderful way to travel bar none. And I bet the children don't mind that at all. Petrol has at least tripled in price since I got to the States. Just in the last couple of months I have noticed a lot more people walking and cycling around town and driving slower on the highway. It's amazing. It is better for the environment this way!

I remember as a kid trips on the train were great and even now I still think the train is a lovely way to travel. There is something hypnotic about the sound of the engine and the views rushing by.

Great, and I bet the kids loved going on the train. I will have to start walking to the gym ( shame on me ) for using the car when it rains.
I love that picture of Edmund, only for his bright yellow coat it could be a black and white photo.

Have just discovered your blog... and enjoying it!
We too are switching to more alternatives rather than the car all the time. Bikes and walking have been our thing as there is no public transport in our town or close by.

it's a great idea if you can manage it. I have to drive to work everyday, although it's not too far, there isn't public transport taking me there nor close. I don't get to drive much, but I miss my walking days ;)
