Ten years old! I can hardly believe it!
Last Sunday she had about twenty friends here for a party. The theme was punk...!
And on Friday, I took her to see Avril Lavigne with two friends. And darling Daughter, thank you for your cool taste in music... I don't think I could have stood for four hours for someone like Westlife...
As I sat in the car, saying nothing, I listened to them chatting, comparing their cool gear, their nail varnish, their shoes, their voices excited and full of the first inflections of growing up. I was overcome with something I have not yet figured out.
This truly will be an exciting year, full of change and new experiences. I do feel the sadness of something ending, and something new beginning, and I want to hold on just a bit longer.

That sure is a funny cake!!
I get goose bumps reading your reflections on how your kid is growing up... I'm a little behind but I completely relate. Breathe and take all the goofd moments in :)
Yes, she wanted an Avril Lavigne sparkly pink guitar...
You would not believe some of the crazy cakes I've made over the years! I think the most insane was for Ru's 10th birthday: the empire state building with King Kong on top...
Oh stop! You're making me sad. But really, the little girl will always be inside her, and you and Finn will always be close.
