Through My Window, On An Afternoon Of Unexpected Idleness.

"The mountains simply exist, as I do. The mountains exist simply, as I do not."
~ Peter Matthiessen.

From all directions, the distant mountains bathe their crowns in milky pools,
and the sky draws down a slow veil,
the earlier rain,
like the lightest canopy
shook out in slow motion, reluctant to return down to us,
a curious drift that settles unhurriedly.

It takes the whole day.

  1. I've never heard the top quote before, but I think, perhaps, you do exist simply...at least sometimes. How else would all this poetry come to you if you had a cluttered mind? Lovely images and words.

  9. Oh what a view! Sigh. My dream, to live in a place where I could be greeted with such scenery. I had it for a short time, while living on the island of Tromso in the far far North of Norway, I still miss it now, more than ten years later!

  10. God, the perspective in these photos is so altered - the first two, the cloud looks like a high ridge of hills ABOVE the Sugar Loaf, even though I know it's not there. Incredible cloudscapes.
